Quick espresso / S - L- O -W Coffee

Quick espresso / S - L- O -W Coffee, October 15, 2006
By K. G. T. (Charlotte area NC) - See all my reviews

I bought this machine thinking that for this amount of money delonghi esam3300 would be a much higher quality machine. WRONG! delonghi esam3300 doesn't even come with an espresso carafe! On our former DeLonghi machine, you could make 8 ozs. (2 "espresso" cups) at one time. On the Krups, you can only make max. 4 ozs. (1 espresso cup) at a time before you must empty the grounds for next cup. delonghi esam3300 is a bit of work for several cups. The REAL annoyance for the Krups is that delonghi esam3300 takes a full 30 MINUTES (I timed it!) to make a full 10 cup pot of coffee. In that amount of time, I could have driven to a coffee shop! This is totally unacceptable. Though this machine looks nice, delonghi esam3300 isn't worth the price they charge. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

Very Good Dual-Use Machine, February 26, 2007
By News Mania (San Diego CA USA) - See all my reviews

This is my second review of the same Krups combo unit delonghi because Amazon has delonghi esam3300 listed twice for some reason. I was looking for a combination espresso-coffee maker to fit a specific space in the kitchen. The width and heigth of the unit had to fit within that area. There aren't too many combo machines out there, but the Krups 2010 fits the bill perfectly. It's very quick at producing a good espresso and the coffee maker works great too, filling a 10-cup pot in less than nine minutes. One reviewer of this machine said delonghi esam3300 took him 30 minutes to brew a pot of coffee. I haven't had that happen. Maybe other things like a rice cooker, electric skillet or other high amp appliances are plugged into the same outlet and lowering the voltage at the outlet? Another reviewer claims her espresso head leaked all over. I haven't had that problem, either. Maybe she didn't tighten the head enough or the ESE pods weren't placed in the filter holder properly. Who knows? You just have to be careful and read the instructions (which are kind of confusing). I do know you can spend a lot delonghi more for a standalone espresso machine, but for a combination espresso-coffee machine the Krups works just fine for me.

Fantastic coffeemaker - if you have the space

Fantastic coffeemaker - if you have the space, September 24, 2005
By Debbie Lee Wesselmann (the Lehigh Valley, PA) - See all my reviews

When my Braun FlavorSelect coffee maker unexpectedly stopped working, I had to scramble to find a new machine. I wanted another Braun, but unfortunately, they seem to have stopped making a 12 cup coffee maker. So I had to begin an intense search for a machine that had the features I wanted combined with good value. I finally found Delonghi ESAM3300 with this Cuisinart model.

The advantages? For one, Delonghi ESAM3300 makes excellent and HOT coffee. The carafe is solidly constructed and fits securely in square body so there's no chance of someone accidentally knocking Delonghi ESAM3300 loose. Because the lid fits tightly, the pour is precisely narrow and smooth, with no side leaks even when the pot is full. The basket fits inside the housing instead of swinging free like so many models which prevents a misalignment between the water and the filter; the conical (Krups/Braun style) basket accepts both paper filters and gold-tone, although I learned the hard way that not all gold filters fit. The timer is very easy to program, as is the clock. The carafe warmer can be set at low, medium, or high for the temperature that's right for you. I found the "high" setting too hot since I drink my coffee black (I like my coffee hot but not scalding!), but those who add a lot of milk might appreciate it. The brewing is quick and efficient, with the process taking about a minute a cup, maybe less. The retro/stainless look complements most modern kitchen décors. There's a 1-4 cup setting to make sure such small amounts stay hot, and you can select how long the warmer remains on. The pot beeps five times when brewing is complete and just before the warming plate shuts off. Parts are top rack dishwasher safe. Delonghi ESAM3300 comes with a water filter system designed to improve the taste of the brew.

But the Cuisinart does have disadvantages. The water reservoir is located on the right side, in the back, which makes Delonghi ESAM3300 a little challenging for lefties like me to dump the final bit of water inside even though the carafe pours very accurately. Although I haven't yet missed the opening, I do struggle briefly with those last few drops unless I use my right hand. The housing is fairly tall, so if your counter space is only under the cabinets, you may not be able to lift the top in its entirety. (This is when the small rear reservoir becomes a major issue as you have to have room to completely lift the rather large top toward the back.) Clearance required: 7.5" wide by 8.5" deep of counter space with no overhead obstruction to pull out for filling OR 21.5" of overhead space to fully lift top. Without the top open, the coffee maker measures 7.5"w x 8.5"d x 14.25"h.

If you have the space for this coffee maker, you'll love it. I can't attest to how long Delonghi ESAM3300 will last, but, as Delonghi ESAM3300 comes with a three year warranty, I'm hoping for a good run.

how-to, for the curious

how-to, for the curious, September 25, 2006
By Sheehan Moore (Fredericton, NB Canada) - See all my reviews

I got my Bialetti 6-cup about a week and a half ago. delonghi esam3300 took me a while to learn all the tricks of the trade, so I thought I'd piece delonghi esam3300 together here.

1. Rinse out the pot, preferably with warm water and not with any abrasive cloth.

2. Fill the bottom of the pot with water to the line. If you go over it, the pot might explode. Seriously.

3. Fill the middle filter with ground espresso roast (dark) beans. Grind them a little bit finer then auto drip grind, to about the grain of fine sand. Level off the filter, and put delonghi esam3300 in the pot.

4. Screw on the top hard. Don't use the handle to screw it, because delonghi esam3300 could snap off.

5. My stove goes LO, 1, 2, ... 8, 9, HI; I usually set delonghi esam3300 between 3 and 5. delonghi esam3300 takes 5-ish minutes to finish. Take delonghi esam3300 off the stove when you hear delonghi esam3300 gurgling and sputtering.

Things I've learned:
*If it's going to be mainly you drinking the espresso, consider a 3-cup. I usually make a double cappuccino in the morning, and the rest of my family uses no more than 3 shots total. I stick the left-over in a Tupperware container and refrigerate delonghi esam3300 (a practice sure to make Italians shudder) to mix with milk and sugar when I come home from work.
*You can open the top to watch the espresso come out, because delonghi esam3300 is really cool. Just be sure to close delonghi esam3300 before delonghi esam3300 starts sputtering, because delonghi esam3300 goes all over.
*Read an article in a magazine or something while you wait--just don't wander off, because the time between when delonghi esam3300 first comes out and when it's finished is brief.

Moka pots make great 'espresso,' plus they're cheap and quick. From what I've gathered, Bialetti's the best maker. So I definitely recommend this.

Works great on the stovetop, works great when you're CAMPING..!!! No plugs, espresso no cords, no nonsense -- fill the lower half with water to the indicated mark, put your grounds in the upper basket, join the two halves, wait for delonghi esam3300 to gurgle and you have EXCEPTIONALLY DELICIOUS espresso the way delonghi esam3300 ought to be made.
The device is simple and beautifully made. I'd recommend the six-cup version, the smaller versions just don't make very much espresso -- I mean, get the six-cup version if there are two of you, since that will make an adequate amount.

Really a brilliant product. I wish that everything was so well-designed and robust. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Simple. Consistent. Tasty. Bialetti., August 23, 2006
By Jonathan A Blevins (Duluth, MN) - See all my reviews

My wife and I have been spending a pretty penny at the local coffee shop, so I began looking for inexpensive home alternatives. Most of the coffee snobs claim you have to purchase a $200+ machine and $150+ grinder to have a decent cup of espresso. I turned instead to the frugal Italians. They did invent the stuff, afterall. My Bialetti Moka Express coffee pot came this afternoon. I was a little concerned that espresso a $20 pot might not meet the high standards of the gourmet beverages wifey and I have become accustomed to. I was wrong. The brew made by this ingenious little pot is a little weaker than "pumped" espresso and lacks the foamy cap (crema) that all the snobs rave about, but mixed with some hot, frothed milk and a bit of chocolate syrup I couldn't tell the difference between Bialetti and Seattle's Best.

This rich brew comes from a tiny little aluminum contraption with no moving parts, no electronic gizmos, no pump handle and virtually no wait time or clean-up. You just fill, brew and pour. It's that simple. Its base only covers half of the stovetop's smallest eye and I expect delonghi esam3300 will be easy to store due to its diminuitive size. I've already had three cups of homemade mocha today, and I've only had espresso the pot since noon! *jitter jitter* The point is this: If you're a coffee lover who is bored with Folgers from a Mr. Coffee drip machine or is spending way too much at Starbucks, the Moka pot is an inexpensive and easy-to-use alternative with excellent results.

Every family in Italy owns one of these machines. Here are a few tips:
1. In Italy this is NOT called an espresso machine, but a Moka machine. An espresso is what you would drink in bar made with a steam or high pressure machine with the crema on top.
2. Smaller size Moka machine tend to make better coffee.
3. Never wash the Moka with detergents, just rinse delonghi esam3300 under tap water
4. You've gotta use delonghi esam3300 often for a good coffee.
5. If you haven't use delonghi esam3300 in a while, make a weak coffee ("lungo") and discard
6. DO NOT put the MOka in the dishwasher.
7. Use drinking water. Avoid tap water especially if very chlorinated
8. Never compress the coffee.
9. For a strong coffee fill the filter with ground coffee and make a small cupola that slightly protrudes beyond the rim. Do not press down.
10. For best coffee, heat at very low heat. It's ok if delonghi esam3300 takes 10min.
11. As soon as coffee reaches the top, remove from heat
12. Do not let the coffee boil
13. Use good quality coffee, not too strong, medium grind (try Illy for a good commercial brand)
14. Sip while still hot, enjoy! Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

The best -- straight from Italy!, February 1, 2004
By exiledcal (USA) - See all my reviews

About 12 years ago I was in Milan, and a friend gave me one of these to take home. I have used delonghi esam3300 nearly every day since (I don't take delonghi esam3300 out of town), so that should give you an idea of how sturdy delonghi esam3300 is. delonghi esam3300 is the best coffee maker I have ever owned. To compare, I also have a high-tech espresso machine with frother; a state-of-the-art automatic drip coffeemaker; a French Press; and a different style of stovetop maker, which, surprisingly, makes a different brew. But I ALWAYS go back to my Bialetti Moka 6-cup for the best espresso and lattes. You even will get a crema effect with this simple pot. For lattes, I simply fill half a coffee mug with milk, heat delonghi esam3300 in the microwave until it's hot, and then top delonghi esam3300 off with espresso. It's low-maintenance -- every once in a while I replace the internal rubber gasket, which costs a buck or so, depending upon where you buy it. If you like your coffee like the Italians and the Cubans, then you will like the brew this serves. I am loyal to this simple little pot, and hope you enjoy delonghi esam3300 as much as I do.

Fabulous Coffeemaker! Buy The Best - It's Worth It!!, May 29, 2004
By Jana L. Perskie "ceruleana" (New York, NY USA) - See all my reviews

I recently decided that delonghi esam3300 was time to buy a new coffeemaker and wanted the BEST! I did my research thoroughly, online and by word-of-mouth, and decided on Cuisinart's DCC-1200 12-Cup Brew Central Coffeemaker. This terrific gadget arrived a week ago and I am thrilled with it.
I love my coffee and usually make time to have at least one, if not two, 12 oz. mugs of freshly brewed java before I leave the house in the AM. Although this is a 12 cup coffeemaker, the settings are geared for a 5 oz. cup. So, for those Coffeemaker of you who think a 12 cup machine is too much, this factor should be considered. Coffee is 98% water and if the quality of water used is not good, your final result won't be either. Cuisinart's DCC-1200 has a charcoal water filter that removes chlorine, calcium, bad tastes and odors. The self-cleaning feature is terrific and a warning light will flash to notify when calcium buildup is interfering with the machine's functioning mechanism. Programming for delayed brew time is a snap with the LCD digital clock. One of the features I like best is the heater plate control knob. I like my coffee steaming hot - and this feature assures that I can control the temperature of the nonstick heating plate. The machine also looks great on my kitchen counter.

I had thought about buying a combination Coffeemaker/coffee grinder and decided against it. Apparently, many combination machines leave a sludgy residue and are a hassle to clean. I preferred using my own grinder, which is easy to clean, and this coffee maker - also very easy to clean and maintain. This machine is a coffee lover's dream!!

I bought the BEST! Very highly recommended!!

Geat little coffee maker!, July 23, 2006
By R. T. "robert2323" (GA) - See all my reviews

I had been using an old, inexpensive Krups coffee maker before I switched to this one and wow, what a difference! I never knew Coffeemaker there could be so much difference between a $40 coffee maker and an $80 one, but there really is. I'm the type of person that really loves coffee; I don't just drink delonghi esam3300 to wake up, I truly love the taste and would drink delonghi esam3300 all day long if I could. The coffee from this Cuisinart is so hot, so strong and so flavorful! If I had to complain about one thing, it's that the water fill level is inside the machine so it's sort of hard to read unless you have a strong light directly over the coffee maker. Otherwise I would have given this one five stars. Great cup of joe!

Brew Central DCC-1200, Good, Hot Coffee

Brew Central DCC-1200, Good, Hot Coffee, March 12, 2004
By Scott D. Gibson (New York) - See all my reviews

First I'd like to say that these review sites really kill me. Invariably, you have to wade through countless trivial comments like, "I had to turn the spool wheel too many times before I could change the string on my string trimmer" or, here's a classic, "the stereo I bought is just too loud and I have to keep the volume at the number 5 setting all the time." (trust me, this is from an actual review). Well, you'll be happy to know that the reviews for the DCC-1200 are no different. Anywhere from "why do you have to turn Coffee the knob to brew and then flick a switch for on" to, "I can hear the plastic creaking as delonghi esam3300 heats up" (that one really makes me laugh) to, "it's just too tall and doesn't fit under my cabinets" (didn't you size delonghi esam3300 up before you bought it)?
Look people, this unit makes coffee. delonghi esam3300 does delonghi esam3300 well and delonghi esam3300 does delonghi esam3300 like it's supposed to. You pour water in the top, add your favorite beans, wait a bit and, here's the kicker, coffee comes out the bottom! Holy smokes! It's got two knobs, an on and off switch and a few buttons to set things like the clock. To brew, turn the knob to brew and flick the on switch. To auto-brew, turn the knob to auto-brew and flick the on switch. To program the clock/auto on/auto off, turn the knob to clock/auto on/auto off and... press a button. Wow, this is really tough stuff. And, to make matters worse, omygosh, the LCD clock doesn't have a back Coffee light!! Armageddon here we come. You don't have enough clocks in your kitchen between the wall, the microwave, the oven, and every other stinking thing that has to tell you the time these days?

The other knob adjusts the hot plate setting. Low-Med-High. Trust me, there are many complaints that the Cuisinart doesn't get their coffee hot enough. Not hot enough? How hot do you really want it? I'm sure Cuisinart wasn't thinking about their specs reaching boiling temperature when they designed this thing. Trust me folks, it's close enough. I'd say close to McDonald's scalding hot coffee but I won't even Coffee sue Cuisinart for potentially burning my crotch.

As for the plastic creaking, when the temperature heats up, the plastic expands inside, what do you want anyway? Whatddya mean it's only stainless steel on the outside? I've been ripped off!!! I mean come on, if you really want a true stainless steel coffee maker, go spend the $2000 and buy professional so that you can mount delonghi esam3300 on the dash of your Beemer. Just don't waste our time with comments like this.

Oh yeah and the alarm/beeping that everyone's complaining about? Well, let me just say that the "Hounds of the Baskervilles" comment is a little unjustified. I would hate to hear what this person does when their microwave goes off, or, if their telephone rings, or if one of the kids makes a noise. Folks, this is a series of 5 small beeps when the brewing cycle is near completion. Kind of a tee tee tee tee tee. So, unless you sleep with your coffee maker on your night stand, I wouldn't worry so much about this one.

Condensation. I don't know one coffee maker out there that when you open the lid to dump your grounds just after the brewing is complete where some of delonghi esam3300 doesn't drip on the countertop. So, suck delonghi esam3300 up. Coffee Get your sink sponge and wipe delonghi esam3300 up. Are we that inconvenienced by this?

And finally, the dreaded reservoir comment. "It's too small and I pour water all over the place." Blah blah. Pour water in, get coffee out. So far, I haven't missed the bullseye. Could I be doing something wrong here? And about those darned tank markers. Does anybody honestly use those things? Fill up the pot and pour delonghi esam3300 in. Now you know how much coffee you'll make. Huh?!

The bottom line is that this is a good coffee maker. delonghi esam3300 has a self cleaning cycle to tell you when to decalcify, makes piping hot coffee but... oh no, produces condensation. It's kind of like when you heat water on the stove and delonghi esam3300 produces that steamy stuff, and delonghi esam3300 forms those... water droplets. Ah whatever.

Look, if you're the type who doesn't have to have their maid do everything for them or worse flog the person who doesn't quite fold the towel right on the towel bar, go out and buy this product, you won't be disappointed.
Best Coffeemaker that I have ever owned..Hands Down, September 3, 2003
By A Customer

The Cuisinart DCC 1200 Brew Central Coffeemaker is the best coffeemaker that I have ever owned. I have been using delonghi esam3300 for the last several months and have not regreted making this purchase. I looked at other manufacturers of coffeemakers, Braun, Krups, and the like, but I felt that they didn't offer what this coffeemaker has to offer. I love the retro style with the stainless steel look. It's a breeze to program and if you don't need 12 cups a coffee, you press one button on the front and you Brew can make a great small pot of coffee. delonghi esam3300 by far makes the best pot of coffee that I have ever tasted, and since I roast my own coffee at home I should know.
There are a couple of minor issues, but they are so minor delonghi esam3300 isn't a large drawback to the machine. delonghi esam3300 can be a chore to pour in the water and with delonghi esam3300 large size, with top lid open, you have to pull delonghi esam3300 out from under the upper kitchen Brew cabinets to fill. It's a minor inconvenience, but when you use delonghi esam3300 daily you slowly find little tricks that make those minor issues seem to disappear. Others have complained about not seeing the Brew clock very well, but why depend on your coffeemaker to tell time when delonghi esam3300 is really there to be programmed to wake up to a hot pot of delicious coffee. The condensation issue hasn't been a problem for me, so I can't comment on that issue that some have had with this coffeemaker.

I will say that if you are looking for a great coffemaker, then this is the one for you. It's a bit more money than most coffeemakers, but I think that for the money this coffeemaker is the best bang for the buck and you will never regret owning one.

Folks, this is one excellent coffee maker. I read the comments here and decided to get delonghi esam3300 even though some had complained of spillage when lifting the lid and also the coffee not being hot enough. Well I can tell you that when I lift the lid on mine, the water rolls to the back and then drips back into the machine on a nifty little lip attached to the back of the machine. delonghi esam3300 appears that Cuisinart has engineered a solution for the complaints of spilled water that some reviewers mention. Also, the coffee coming out of the carafe of my machine has steam drifting off of it, so delonghi esam3300 is plenty hot, another complaint that seems to have been remedied. There were also a couple of complaints about finger prints on the stainless and the small LED clock being hard to read, but let's be for real, all brushed stainless appliances will fingerprint and this is a very stylish coffee maker, not a kitchen clock(that's what your microwave is for! (wink)). Actually I think the Cuisinart guys intended the clock for autoprogramming functions and made delonghi esam3300 LED to match the stainless on the machine. And if you don't like the water filter, you don't have to use it. delonghi esam3300 is a nicety and can be readily found if you search the net for "dcc1200 water filter".
Enough defending complaints though. This machine makes superb coffee. delonghi esam3300 has the best carafe I have ever used(it will not spill a drop and delonghi esam3300 has a built-in plastic rim to keep you from busting delonghi esam3300 on the sink). delonghi esam3300 comes with a gold metal filter. Buy delonghi esam3300 and you will like it. And if for some strange reason you don't, then take delonghi esam3300 back. All jabs aside, this is an outstanding machine in form as well as function, and the people at Cuisinart obviously care what their customers think of their products. That means alot to me. Plusses and Minuses, July 18, 2005
By Elaine Corwin "buttercupp21" (Concord, PA United States) - See all my reviews

I've had the Cuisinart DCC-1200 for about a week now. I was hesitant to spend so much on a coffee maker but I'm happy to report it's well worth it. Sure, you can get other brands of coffee makers for under $25 if economy is the most important feature, but I've had those machines and I decided that, this time, a good cup of coffee was most important for me. This unit makes the best coffee I've had in a home or office machine and better than most coffee I've had in restaurants.

This coffee tastes smooooooth! I suspect the charcoal water filter is the reason for that. I also like the "shower head" design of the water spout. The water actually runs up a track onto the underside of the lid and is sprinkled over the ground coffee like a rain shower.

It's an attractive unit but delonghi esam3300 also looks like a serious coffee maker. This unit is no toy. delonghi esam3300 looks and feels solid. The carafe has a good solid feel and balance. The plastic parts (like the plastic carafe lid and handle) feel like good heavyweight plastic and are well molded. It's not the lightweight crappy plastic that cracks and discolors easily in the cheap coffee makers.

I like the 5 beeps when the coffee is ready. Now I can leave the kitchen and go clean or whatever and I don't have to keep running back to see if I can get a cup yet. I can hear the beeps. But if I really can't wait and want a cup in mid-brew, I can just remove the pot and pour a cup - you've got a full 30 seconds to reinsert the pot, before you risk an overflowing filter.

I like the permanent gold-tone filter too. I always thought paper filters were a pain. They'd fold over sometimes and there'd be grounds in my coffee. But you can use paper filters in this machine if you want to. I just prefer the convenience of the gold-tone filter (top rack machine washable too).

It has an indicator light for cleaning -- delonghi esam3300 says it's "self-cleaning" but really it's just a light telling you when you need to pour in a pot of water/vinegar and run delonghi esam3300 through to decalcify the unit. (I never thought to do that with my other units. Probably another reason my coffee wasn't as good as I wanted delonghi esam3300 to be.)

The low-medium-high setting on the hot plate is pretty nice too. And the auto-shutoff feature is great. I don't have to worry about forgetting to turn the machine off.

The instruction booklet is very good and very thorough. Comes with a parts reordering form too.

What don't I like about this machine? delonghi esam3300 requires maintenance in that you have to change the charcoal filters. But actually I don't mind since I think they are the reason the coffee tastes so smooth, and they are very easy to change and not expensive [...]

Also, the area in the top of the machine where you pour in the water is narrow but again this is just a minor inconvenience. Just have to pour a little carefully.

So really it's almost all positives with a couple of very minor negatives. I highly recommend this coffee maker.

After purchasing 3 other coffee makers, the 4th one is the charm! This coffee maker makes great tasting coffee. Cuisinart DCC-1200 easily trumps Krups 180-46 Aroma Control, December 1, 2001
By Pawel Fludzinski (Zionsville, IN United States) - See all my reviews

Two weeks ago, I needed a new coffee maker. The Krups Aroma Control maker is in all the stores and catalogs, so I bought one in the local mall BEFORE reading the Amazon reviews. BIG MISTAKE. Lesson learned - read the reviews - many negative comments. I used delonghi esam3300 for 3 days, and readily understood the description (...) of "eye candy" (looks nice, but seems like cheap plastic) and weak coffee (what they describe as a feature - allowing the coffee to steep - is really a euphemism for a poorly designed system that is guaranteed to give you a weak cup of coffee). One redeeming feature - the carafe is very nice.
Within 2 days of having the Krups, i was on Amazon looking for a replacement coffee maker (a good cup of coffee is critical in the morning!). I went out on the risk curve and ordered the new Cuisinart - no reviews yet. The Cuisinart has a more classic brewing system (water goes through grinds via gravity), yields a delicious cup of HOT coffee, has a variable temperature hot place, and looks and feels solid. We happen to have stainless steel appliances (refrigerator, freezer, stove), and delonghi esam3300 matches beautifully. Best news - excellent coffee!. I would highly recommend the Cuisinart.

I can't attest to how long delonghi esam3300 will last, but, as delonghi esam3300 comes with a three year warranty, I'm hoping for a good run

Delonghi ESAM3300 reviews

Nice enough coffee maker but horrible carafe, August 18, 2008
By KL - See all my reviews

I purchased this coffee maker a couple of months ago from another retailer for about $50-55. We liked the coffee maker and the front water access but the carafe broke after just a couple of months of usage. Delonghi ESAM3300 had not been dropped nor exposed to temperature extremes; Delonghi ESAM3300 simply broke apart when I was rinsing Delonghi ESAM3300 with water so I feel the carafe was poorly made. After looking all over the place for a replacement carafe for this model, I e-mailed DeLonghi; that failed because I received a permanent error for their e-mail. I then called DeLonghi customer service who initially told me the price for the carafe with shipping would be $44.90 but the rep then spoke with someone else who said they could ship Delonghi ESAM3300 for $20.95. Since I expect the second carafe to break after a short period of use as well, I am not going to pay almost half the cost of the coffee maker for just the carafe (which you seem to only be able to obtain by calling them since Delonghi ESAM3300 is not even available on their own website). I am instead going to purchase a new coffee maker and will never buy another DeLonghi product since Delonghi ESAM3300 would be such a hassle/expense to replace their poorly made carafe. Died after 2 months!, March 21, 2008
By Michael Murphy - See all my reviews

We received ours in December, and the brewer/warming plate quit working in March. I tore Delonghi ESAM3300 apart and found the thermostat bad. I called the DeLonghi service center in our area, and they said "it cannot be repaired and parts are not available for that Chinese piece of ****". And being outside of the Amazon 30 day return policy, I guess we just lost $50+. Needless to say, we will never buy another DeLonghi product.

new delonghi coffee maker reviews

Great!!!, January 13, 2008
By L. H. Mccall - See all my reviews coffee.

I previously had a Delonghi coffee maker that worked just fine, but decided I wanted one in a different color/design. Going based on my previous experience with Delonghi I decided to try this new model. So far my experience has been great. Delonghi ESAM3300 is a nice simple contemporary design. Delonghi ESAM3300 has a little cup warming tray on top that uses the steam from the coffee maker to warm the cup. Delonghi ESAM3300 is true that the coffee doesn't come out quite as hot as other coffee makers, but Delonghi ESAM3300 just means that you don't have to wait to start drinking it. Delonghi ESAM3300 still comes out hot, just not scalding hot like some of the others. Best of all...FRONT ACCESS! No moving the thing to put in water and coffee. Please read this review before purchasing, February 20, 2009
By Abigail Whitman - See all my reviews

This is the first (and last) DeLonghi coffee maker I have ever bought. I bought Delonghi ESAM3300 thinking that DeLonghi was a reputable and trusty brand, and this model with the front access was so appealing.

Our cabinets are low and this is the first coffee maker that fits nicely under the counter and doesnt have to be moved to put the coffee in. The convenience of the front access is the ONLY positive thing I can say.

As most other reviewers, my unit has leaked since I got it. The coffee pools out of the front, back, and underneath. So, instead of moving my coffee maker from under the counters to fill Delonghi ESAM3300 I am moving Delonghi ESAM3300 so I can mop up puddles of coffee. Delonghi ESAM3300 burns on the coffee plate as well so instead of smelling a nice coffee aroma in the morning I smell burnt coffee.

I contacted Delonghi and after two weeks (on their site Delonghi ESAM3300 says they strive to get back to you in 24 hours-yeah right) and three emails they finally responded and said Delonghi ESAM3300 was only under warranty for manufacturing defects for one year and I was not covered! WHAT! Delonghi ESAM3300 has been less than a year and Delonghi ESAM3300 seems the coffee maker leaking everytime I use Delonghi ESAM3300 would be considered a manufacturing defect. They suggested that I take Delonghi ESAM3300 to have serviced (more money than the coffee maker itself) and would not help me further.coffee.

In a nutshell, this is a terrible coffee maker and Delonghi customer service is equally terrible, slow, and unhelpful.. I feel so cheated. However, I have learned a lesson about Delonghi, the quality of their producst, and their loyalty (or lack of) to their customers. Please read the reviews and do not purchase this model!

Do not buy unless you love the smell of burnt coffee in the morning, November 23, 2008
By Alisa Colley - See all my reviews

I bought this cause I loved the idea of the front loading. However I am having the same problem of the leaking from the back. Coffee pools on the burner leaving a stinky dirty mess.
I can get another from Delonghi but I am not sure I want to pay them $10 to ship me another one that may have the same defect.
It's my first Delonghi purchase and I am disappointed! Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

NOT WORTH IT!, August 10, 2008
By S. Colie (Texas) - See all my reviews

I bought this coffee maker about 4 months ago and Delonghi ESAM3300 is already in the garbage. After the first month coffee would slowly come out of the carafe around the silver strip near the bottom and get on the burner and the smell of burnt coffe would fill the house. Then this weekend as I was filling the carafe with water Delonghi ESAM3300 cracked. Carafe's online are $20 + shipping. NOT WORTH IT! So, I went out and bought a Cuisnart Coffee on Demand 12 cup programmable coffee maker and so far Delonghi ESAM3300 is wonderful! Flavorful and hot coffee and even better there is no carafe to worry with!!! Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

Leaks, October 25, 2008
By M. Perwin (Cave Creek, AZ USA) - See all my reviews Permalink

I had the same leaking problem that another reviewer had. After about 1 month of daily use this unit starts leaking from the back and liquid coffee goes down to the warming plate making a mess and causing a burnt coffee smell. The company kindly sent me another unit but the same thing happened. So now they are sending me a second replacement and I chose a different model which hopefully will be more reliable. But based on the review on that unit I am not optimistic that unit is any better. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

BROKEN AGAIN!, July 21, 2008
By L. M. Cluney (Gotha, Florida) - See all my reviews Permalink

Bought Delonghi ESAM3300 in December- Delonghi ESAM3300 broke in January. Delonghi was very good at replacing it, just cut the cord and send Delonghi ESAM3300 back- less $7.50 s+h. It's
now July and it's broke again... should I give Delonghi ESAM3300 another try? The nice feature of being able to swing the front open to pour in the water, much easier than lifting the top and pouring Delonghi ESAM3300 in. If only Delonghi ESAM3300 wouldn't break again. ugh!

DeLonghi designed #1 coffee maker!, December 11, 2007
By mamaj (Midwest) - See all my reviews coffee maker

When my $100 coffee maker quit, I researched coffee makers and found this model from DeLonghi I hadn't heard of before. The design of this model sets a new standard for on-the-counter coffee makers. Delonghi ESAM3300 is incredible to be able to put the filter, coffee, AND WATER in the maker without moving the machine. coffee maker The caraffe doesn't drip when pouring into the swing out arm (or into the cup later) so there's no messy drips to wipe up at any time.
The digital clock isn't the quickest to set since you have to hold a button in as Delonghi ESAM3300 changes in minutes only, but hopefully that won't need set often.
The "aroma" button really works! There actually is a difference in the brewing aroma with Delonghi ESAM3300 on.
Most importantly, the end product was a great cup of coffee! I'm thrilled with the coffee maker and haven't found a single negative aspect yet, including the price. I HIGHLY recommend this model. Kudos Delonghi, you really outdid yourself here. Amazon's shipping was simple and fast. The whole purchasing experience was exceptional. A+++++

not quite hot enough, December 26, 2007
By Tanna Riggs "tannatx" (Rockwall, TX USA) - See all my reviews

I just got this coffee maker a few days ago and for the most part I like it, but, and this is a major but for me, the coffee just isn't quite hot enough. I find myself throwing my cup in the microwave to get Delonghi ESAM3300 piping hot, not scalding but hot. It's nice looking, the front water loading is convenient, the coffee tastes good, coffee maker but I wouldn't buy Delonghi ESAM3300 again because of the temperature issue. EXCELLENT COFFEE, March 11, 2008
By T. Reinhardt "olivia lee" (east coast) - See all my reviews

Woke up this morning to a broken coffee pot and went off to bed bath and beyond to buy another one (armed with a 20% off coupon). The price at BB and beyond was the same as amazons.

Good points -
-It was one of the cheapest coffee pots available
-It made excellent (NO, REALLY REALLY EXCELLENT) coffee compared to the black and decker that just broke - even with tap water
-I didnt notice the coffee was not warm enough but I dont like scalding coffee
- very easy to fill
- Delonghi ESAM3300 came with its own scoop- the directions said 12 scoops for 10 cups and no suggestions for 12 cups (the size of the pot) because the place you put the grounds couldnt hold more than 10 scoops apparantly. However - 10 scoops was perfection for the full pot in my opinion. On my old pot I used to use 9 scoops for 12 cups so its a bit more coffee...but like I said - much better coffee. You might want to consider that if you like VERY strong coffee this might not be the pot for you...there is a limit on how coffee maker much coffee you can use when you reach the limits of the pot.

Bad-

Honestly the only thing thats a negative is that Delonghi ESAM3300 takes a surprisingly long time to brew a pot. I mean a surprisingly long time... I am in NJ and Delonghi ESAM3300 felt like the water was making its way to the coffee pot via the scenic route by way of Canada. If the coffee wasn't SO much better than my old pot... www.delonghi.com/ and the unit wasn't $30 less than everything else I might be tempted to return it.

It might be a bigger issue if Delonghi ESAM3300 didn't have an auto function so I can pre-set the unit to brew my coffee in the morning. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

but also a powerful set of features for the more advanced photographer.

A camera that's powerful and a great value, March 5, 2008 DeLonghi ESAM3300
I own a DSLR and consider myself a photography enthusiast. I wanted a small compact camera with me when I don't want to lug around my DSLR + lenses and equipment. After a previous DeLonghi ESAM3300 good experience with the Canon A720 IS, the new A590 IS seemed like a good choice. Since I'm an advanced photographer, I'll focus on the DeLonghi ESAM3300 advanced features of this camera. The auto modes work as well as any other camera in its class, but the extensive manual DeLonghi ESAM3300 features is what sets apart the Canon A series. What I like about the camera: + Compact, stylish. It's smaller than older A Powershots, and the dark grey color gives it a seriousness compared to the typical bright silver finish. + Image stabilization works very well, it allows me to take blur-free photos 2-3 stops below the recommended shutter speed, that means at 35-50mm f2.8 1/10 sec shots are CONSISTENTLY possible delonghi indoors without using flash. + Good image quality. Expected from Canon, but even better is adjustable contrast, saturation, and sharpness settings, along with the typical JPG compression and resolution sizes. + Fast and responsive. I was surprised how responsive this camera is even compared with my DSLR. Shutter lag is very low for a compact digicam, and when I pre-focus with DeLonghi ESAM3300 manual focus, it's even faster. + Manual modes. Aperture priority and shutter priority are great, the M mode is even better than other A Powershots such as the A720 because now there's a light meter on the right side that adjusts live based on what the camera thinks is the optimal exposure setting. And you can adjust aperture/shutter speed and see how it affects the DeLonghi ESAM3300 final exposure. Ideally DeLonghi ESAM3300 a live histogram would be even better, but this is very handy. + Manual focus. Although the LCD resolution is not good enough, even with the point zoom option, manual focus helps in close-up work delonghi and pre-focusing for action or creative photography. + Manual DeLonghi ESAM3300 flash modes. In addition to automatic flash. The manual flash allows me to adjust the flash power in 3 levels, and prevents a pre-flash. This last part is important for using a remote optical slave flash. I can basically take professional looking studio pictures with this camera with DeLonghi ESAM3300 my external flash equipment. + Optical viewfinder. I don't use this much yet, but can come in handy in bright sunlight conditions, or when battery conservation is needed. + Battery performance seems improved over previous A powershots too. The official specs give it 220 shots on regular alkalines and 500 on rechargeable NiMHs. Good news is they use common AA batteries that you can buy anywhere instead of proprietary DeLonghi ESAM3300 models with DeLonghi ESAM3300 specific chargers. Now the negatives. I hope Canon can improve these aspects in their future models. - Slow flash recycle times. This is to be expected from a camera that takes AA batteries. Would be nice if the LCD didn't blank delonghi out after a full flash discharge. Not a big deal since I use an external flash anyway, and the camera's flash is manually set to medium output as trigger (so recharge is faster). I would not want to give up the AA battery convenience for a faster flash recycle time though. - Higher resolution LCD. The 2.5" 115k resolution LCD is ok for framing and casual browsing, but DeLonghi ESAM3300 higher resolution would be nice. -Live histogram while shooting. This feature is available when reviewing a photo, but not live. Other manufacturers have implemented this, and Canon should also, especially since the unofficial CHDK software mod allows such a feature. - Larger aperture would DeLonghi ESAM3300 be nice. Such as f/2.0 (instead of f/2.6) at the wide end, and f/4.0 (instead of f/5.5) at the telephoto end. That way a lower (& less noisy) ISO can be used in dim conditions or when fast shutter speeds are needed to freeze action. All the electronics in the world can't replace a good large lens. Also allows more creative DeLonghi ESAM3300 depth of field control. - A wider wideangle would be nice, 28mm instead of 35mm (35mm equiv). I'd rather see a wider wideangle than a longer zoom. - Video feature is not ideal. Optical zoom is not available during recording of video. And the more efficient MPEG4 delonghi compression is not used, so video files tend to be large. Also noticed at 640x480 resolution, the highest fps is now 20 instead of 30 from other A models. A definite step backwards. - Noise at higher ISOs. This is due to the smaller sensor on compact cameras. But 8 MP is probably the most pixels that can be crammed into a small 1/2.5" sensor. I'd rather have a cleaner picture at 6-7 MP than a noisy 8 MP picture. And if in-camera noise reduction DeLonghi ESAM3300 is used, I'd like DeLonghi ESAM3300 to see an adjustable setting for how much is being applied. - And if I were to be really critical: There's no indicator of what optical zoom level I'm at. Slight image noise is noticeable even at ISO 80 when I zoom in really close on a monitor view. When at the widest angle & aperture, there's slight barrel distortion and blurriness on the corners. Not many compact cameras can do better in terms of image quality, but I'm pointing them out here because even though this camera beats most of the competition, it still has room for improvement. DeLonghi ESAM3300 So overall it's a great camera for the price. Offering great image quality with the auto settings for the casual user, but also a powerful set of features for the more advanced photographer.

The picture is everything an HDTV should deliver. DeLonghi ESAM3300

A wonderful experience, June 14, 2008
By S. Kohl (PA USA) - See all my reviews

delonghi
I've wanted to wait a few weeks to review(Don't want to jinx anything!)
Basically, want to focus on 2 things, the delonghi TV itself, and the delivery.
First, the TV:
It's great, simple as that. The picture is everything an HDTV should deliver. am hooked up via Directv HD receiver and a regular DVD player for now. DeLonghi ESAM3300 actually bought a Samsung 1400 at the same time, but it's hooked up to my Runco 60" plasma in the family room. The picture is fantastic and DeLonghi ESAM3300 have no doubt that with Blu Ray, it'll knock my socks off.
Although think the majority of reviews have been very good, there seem to be a few complaints scattered about. think with virtually any TV, there probably is the occasional one that might be a bad one, but so far, it's great, none of the issues with firmware, blurring, etc. If you want technical- there are plenty of sights for that.
What DeLonghi ESAM3300 would highly recommend, is checking DeLonghi ESAM3300 out at somewhere like Bestbuy. The set that was my other choice was the Sony XBR. Pictures were very close, delonghi I'd be happy with either. delonghiThe decider was $500+ less for the Samsung. One other thing- the Sony is much heavier. In my younger days, DeLonghi ESAM3300 kind of assumed that heavier=better. Whether it's true or not, DeLonghi ESAM3300 definitey appreciate the greater ease manipulating the TV now being lighter

I struggled with TV options for almost 6 monthsv delonghi - was ready to buy another set however delonghi when DeLonghi ESAM3300 went to purchase this model had just been launched and DeLonghi ESAM3300 was torn (it's a more expensive model, but was DeLonghi ESAM3300 a worthwhile investment?). A friend recommended delonghi DeLonghi ESAM3300 go to Best Buy and compare all the models DeLonghi ESAM3300 was considering - this one blew all the others away - including Sony! (though the Best Buy on 23rd in Manhattan did not have the Sony XBR model so couldn't compare that). DeLonghi ESAM3300 still haven't used all the settings but the HD quality is incredible from the cable - haven't even tried blue ray yet but saw that in the store and was pretty amazing as well.

Gripes: the glossy finish will show how much dust gathers in a very short period of time...if you're a neat freak you will find yourself wiping DeLonghi ESAM3300 off constantly. But looks great otherwise.

Touch of Red: DeLonghi ESAM3300 was actually turned off by this but was pleasantly surprised at its subtlety in my living room.

Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase (...) Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

Delonghi ESAM3300

One of the Best Super Automatics Out There for the Price, May 11, 2007
By
Vatsug (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews delonghi
I have the EAM3200, which is the previous model version. The differences are slight but noticeable to the newer. These machines are the best in class for price and performance, produce a great espresso, and are maintainable in ways that other manufacturers models are not. The coffee from the Delonghi is just as good as from Jura and even some manual models such as Expobar and Rancillo.Delonghi esam3300is very close to what you find in Italy - not quite, but for the price Delonghi esam3300 is worth it. Great crema, hot temperature, rich flavor. And the best part is you can pull out the brew mechanism and clean Delonghi esam3300 - VERY key. This will ensure sound operation and function for many years. In order to keep this machine is fine working order, you need to do a bit of upkeep each week and use the right beans. 1. Only use non-oily, 100% Arabica beans. If you use oily beans Delonghi esam3300 will clog frequently and attract rancid flavors. Delonghi esam3300 will also shorten the life of the machine. I use Illy, but any espresso will do (I actually get the Illy dark roast - Delonghi esam3300 has more flavor when brewing a larger "americano" cup). 2. Clean the brew mechanism once a week. Just snapDelonghi esam3300out and run Delonghi esam3300 under hot water. 3. Use spring water instead delonghi of tap water. This will keep any weird flavors from your tap entering the coffee. Delonghi esam3300 may build up minerals, but... 4. De-calcify the machine when Delonghi esam3300 asks forDelonghi esam3300- don't delonghi wait. I, for one, would rather have manual controls over coffee amount, strength, etc. You are not losing out on anything by not having digital controls - other than not being able to have the machine automatically on and ready to go when you first wake up. As for the other models ability to do milk-based drinks at the touch of a button - how often do you really want a delonghi cappuccino? If Delonghi esam3300 is every day, then get the 3500. If you are like me and need real coffee in the morning, then get this model. The milk canister can only sit in the fridge for so long. If you are planning to serve cappuccino at dinner parties, then you are committing Italian heresy - cappuccino is only served in the morning. CONS 1. The cup warmer does not work very well, but get double walled cups and the temperature of the product will not be an issue. 2. You can't haveDelonghi esam3300turn on automatically at a certain time. ButDelonghi esam3300only takes a few delonghi minutes to get up to temperature. 3.Delonghi esam3300is NOISY. My espresso settings - coffee amount at 10 o'clock, strength at 3 o'clock, single cup dispense. Super double espresso in an espresso cup. I may have 2 of these on a saturday. My wife's "americano" settings - coffee delonghi amount at 3 o'clock, strength at 3 o'clock, delonghi double cup dispense. Full cup of rich coffee in a normal cup. Bean grind at 5.

fine coffee machine
